Contractor auditioned at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year, she was awarded the role of lead. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 productions of the play. She was given the chance to join Stratford Conservatory. It allows only eight males as well as four female students to study the art of classical theater. Contractor was eager to accept. The actress's spot in the next play season was secured and she won the role of Hermia.
